The andBeyond Ngala Treehouse is a wild new luxury retreat overlooking the 36,000-acre Ngala Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Ngala, which means “Lion” in the language of the local Shangaan people, is a truly unique, off-the-grid getaway. It borders Kruger National Park, home to the “Big Five” safari animals–lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and cape buffalo–and more species of large mammals than any other African game reserve.
The “remote, yet safe” four-level treehouse is located in the middle of the Ngala reserve, where bush critters abound and working Wi-Fi is but a fading memory. The 39-foot-tall, solar-powered treehouse features two sleep levels–including a covered and weatherproof space–a king-size bed, full bathroom and hot outdoor shower. And don’t worry about any hungry safari creatures wandering around near the treehouse–it’s circled by an imposing thorn boma fence.
There’s also an elevated sleep-out platform that allows guests to stargaze and slumber al fresco under a retractable screen, and a rooftop lounge area where guests can enjoy sunset drinks and a starlit picnic dinner while surveying the raw beauty of their surroundings.
The treehouse’s kitchen is stocked with a full bar, jars stuffed with snacks, and hopefully plenty of bug spray.
For all other needs, a dedicated attendant is just a phone call away. The treehouse is designed to be an overnight wilderness experience that complements a stay at the nearby Ngala Tented Camp or Ngala Safari Lodge, both also operated by adventure travel brand andBeyond.
