Greensky Bluegrass continued their 2020 winter tour at The Fillmore Charlotte on Thursday night. GSBG welcomed guitarist Tom Hamilton from opening band Ghost Light to close out the first set.
Greensky kicked things off with “Just To Lie” which led into a cover of legendary mandolinist David Grisman’s “E.M.D. (Eat My Dust).” “Lose My Way” and “Forget Everything” came next followed by Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade Of Love” and Greensky’s “Fixin’ To Ruin” from their 2016 album Shouted, Written Down & Quoted. After “Room Without A Roof,” GSBG welcomed Hamilton on the Cris Jacobs’s number “Bone Digger” followed by “The Shape I’m In” led by guitarist Dave Bruzza which saw the crowd joining in to sing along on The Band classic to close out the first frame.
The second set got underway with “Merely Avoiding.” The band then paid tribute to Bob Marley with “Stop That Train” on what would have been the reggae legend’s 75th birthday. “Stop That Train” then led into the GSBG classic “Less Than Supper.” Next up came the John Hartford favorite “Steam Powered Aeroplane” ahead of “It’s Not Mine Anymore,” from the band’s 2019 album All For Money, and “While Waiting.” Then, “Dry Country” kicked off a continuous block that featured a temporal theme with Greensky’s signature cover of Pink Floyds’ “Time” before “Leap Year” led back into “Time” and returned once again to “Leap Year.”
