Bentley Unveils Continental GT Convertible ‘Equestrian Edition’

Bentley Mulliner, the exclusive division of Bentley Motors that’s responsible for the rarest wing-badged rides like the one-of-12 Bacalar speedster, has designed an exclusive Continental GT Convertible that’s inspired by the prestigious Cheltenham horse racing festival in Gloucestershire, England.

Arriving as the first member of the Bentley Mulliner Collections lineup, this sole “Equestrian Edition” of Bentley’s already-striking droptop grand tourer was commissioned by Bentley Bristol and hand-built at the marque’s Crewe, Cheshire facility in England.

A one-of-a-kind “Spruce” green paint coat is paired with gloss black finishes on the light bezels, radiator grill and exhaust outlets. Bold 22-inch Mulliner wheels—also in gloss black—round out the decidedly dark exterior detailing.

Inside are four diamond-stitched seats that are clad in cheekily named “Saddle” leather and adorned with horse-and-rider emblems on the headrests. The dash, center console and door panels are wrapped in a complementary “Cumbrian Green” leather with light blue stitching, while another equestrian silhouette accompanies Bentley Mulliner branding on the gold-accented Walnut front fascia. Bentley Mulliner treadplates complete the bespoke interior.

While these materialistic upgrades are admittedly gorgeous, none fundamentally change the Continental GT, at the core of which is a 626-horsepower twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 that’s mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch tranny. Its impressive 3.7-second zero-to-60 mph time and 207 mph top speed remain, as do Bentley’s many driver-assist features, heads-up display, automatic dimming mirrors and hands-free trunk opening.

The Continental GT Convertible “Equestrian Edition” is one-of-a-kind, but Bentley Mulliner would surely make another for the right price. The 2020 Kentucky Derby is just around the corner, after all.
