Everything We Know About ‘Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Campaign Remastered’

14

Just weeks after the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzonea battle royale expansion of 2019’s Modern Warfare franchise reboot—made waves in the multiplayer gaming community, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been announced—watch the explosive trailer above:

MW2 Campaign Remastered was recently listed with a March 31 release date on Germany’s PlayStation Network, but was quickly removed, according to Gamespot. PSN described it as “completely remastered with improved textures, animations, physical rendering, HDR lighting, and more.”

Rumors of a remaster of the 2010 sequel to the original Modern Warfare have been circulating since 2018. The listing suggests that it will be a campaign-only standalone game with no multiplayer, as the aforementioned original rumors speculated. That differs from 2016’s Modern Warfare Remastered, which did include support for multiplayer.

The most memorable part of MW2’s campaign was the infamous “No Russian” mission, in which players are tasked with massacring hundreds of innocent civilians as an undercover CIA agent posing as a terrorist insurgent. Devs anticipated that the level would be controversial and made it optional to play. “No Russian” will reportedly be included in the MW2 remaster, along with the rest of Task Force 141’s operations.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is available to play now on PlayStation 4 before it arrives on other platforms April 30. Visit the game’s official website for more information.
