Happy Birthday Jeff Ament: Pearl Jam Plays ‘No Code’ In 2014

141

Bassist Jeff Ament celebrates turning 57-years-old today. The Montana-born skateboarding enthusiast was a seminal figure in the 1990s Seattle music scene, taking part in bands such as Green River, Mother Love Bone, Temple Of The Dog and finally helping to found the hugely influential and successful group Pearl Jam. For Jeff’s birthday today, here’s a look at the night he and his Pearl Jam band mates performed their LP No Code in its entirety.

Fans in attendance at iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois for the October 17, 2014 Lightning Bolt Tour stop were treated to unexpectedly special Pearl Jam show. After opening with “Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town,” Ament and crew delivered a performance of their 1996 album No Code in its entirety. As if that wasn’t enough of a treat, at the start of the first encore frontman Eddie Vedder led the group through the debut of a new song “Moline” which was written 10 minutes before the start of the show. Other highlights included Pink Floyd, John Lennon, Van Halen and Neil Young covers, as well as fan-favorites such as “Even Flow,” “Corduroy,” “Alive” and “Yellow Ledbetter.”
