Jeff Tweedy Appears On ‘Kimmel’ & Covers Meat Puppets For ‘The Tweedy Show’

Gimme Shelter In Place is JamBase’s new daily archival video series launched for fans who right now can’t go see live music. Canceled concerts and music festivals due to social distancing and sheltering in place in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to tours around the globe. We know nothing can truly replace seeing live music in person, but we hope the Gimme Shelter In Place live videos provide a taste of those memorable experiences.

Like the Reed Mathis Gimme Shelter In Place video, today’s footage was filmed in 2015 during a session for the JamBase Songs Of Their Own series featuring covers of Grateful Dead songs, created in conjunction with the band’s 50th anniversary Fare Thee Well concerts. Guitarists Anders Osborne and Luther Dickinson were in San Francisco for an N.M.O. show at The Fillmore. The pair stopped by JamBase’s former headquarters to record a cover of “Black Muddy River.”

In addition to the Dead cover, Osborne and Dickinson performed an acoustic arrangement of Osborne’s song “Annabel.” While sheltering in place, Anders and Luther teleconferenced with JamBase CEO David Onigman about the session, the genesis of the song “Annabel,” Anders’ road to beating addiction and inspiring Dickinson to form N.M.O. Here’s their chat:

The Tweedy Show has been airing on Sue’s Instagram most nights at 10:30 p.m. ET. Monday night’s installment included Jeff Tweedy performing acoustic renditions of “Plateau” and the Wilco classic “You & I.” Check out both songs below as captured by Matt Nickel:
