Liam Gallagher Announces ‘MTV Unplugged’ Live Album

168

Liam Gallagher has announced he’ll release his MTV Unplugged set from the UK’s Hull City Hall next month as a live album.

Six of the songs from the performance – including ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘Sad Song’ – were released on Gallagher’s Acoustic Sessions EP earlier this year. The remaining four tracks of the 10-song set include Oasis favourites ‘Champagne Supernova’ and ‘Some Might Say’, along with Gallagher solo tracks ‘Gone’ and ‘Wall of Glass’.

Gallagher was joined by contemporary string ensemble the Urban Soul Orchestra for the performance, as well as being joined by former Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs on Oasis tracks.

“I was honored to perform at the legendary showcase that is MTV Unplugged,” commented Gallagher in a statement.

“It was a lovely experience and the people of Hull were biblical and sounded fantastic. I hope you enjoy the record.”

Back in 1996, Oasis were scheduled to tape an MTV Unplugged episode at the Royal Festival Hall, but a sore throat forced Gallagher to pull out of the session. The remainder of the band performed without Gallagher, with his brother Noel taking on vocal duties.

MTV Unplugged Live at Hull City Hall will be released Friday, 24th April. It’s available for pre-order – both digitally and on vinyl – through Gallagher’s website here.
