In 1970, The Beatles released Let It Be, their final studio album — though Abbey Road was actually recorded last. Director Peter Jackson put together a documentary on the sessions that led to the album entitled The Beatles: Get Back for Disney that will hit theaters on September 4.
Jackson’s film features a bevy of never-before-seen footage. The Beatles originally released the documentary Let It Be, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1970. Get Back takes a new look at the legendary sessions as well as the band’s famed rooftop concert in London that marked their final live performance.

The Beatles Rooftop Final Performance In 1969
Today marks 51 years since the Fab Four gathered together for one last live set atop Apple headquarters.
Jackson culled the film from 55 hours of footage that was captured early in 1969. “No band has had the kind of impact on the world that The Beatles have had, and The Beatles: Get Back is a front-row seat to the inner workings of these genius creators at a seminal moment in music history, with spectacularly restored footage that looks like it was shot yesterday,” said Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger in a statement. “I’m a huge fan myself, so I could not be happier that Disney is able to share Peter Jackson’s stunning documentary with global audiences in September.”
