Steve Earle & The Dukes Release ‘John Henry Was A Steel Drivin’ Man’ Single

98

Steve Earle and The Dukes shared the single “John Henry Was A Steel Drivin’ Man.” The song will appear on Earle and The Dukes’ upcoming album, Ghosts of West Virginia, set for release on May 22 through New West Records.

Ghosts Of West Virginia traces the tragic true story of one of the worst mining disasters in American history when a 2010 explosion at the Upper Big Branch coal mine in West Virginia killed 29 men. Investigations later revealed that the explosion stemmed from safety violations that were subsequently covered up. The project began for Earle when playwrights Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen approached him to compose and perform the music for their theatre production, Coal Country.

Earle previously previewed the album with lead single, “Devil Put The Coal In the Ground” and follows up with “John Henry Was A Steel Drivin’ Man,” which was originally premiered by Spin. Stream it below:
