Mike Trout’s documented ability to blast homers from the batter’s box apparently translates to golf, as evidenced by the Instagram video here:
The Los Angeles Angels outfielder smashed a golf ball into oblivion during a Pujols Family Foundation charity event organized by his Angels teammate Albert Pujols at Topgolf in Arizona. Trout’s Happy Gilmore-worthy swing was so powerful, the ball actually traveled over the facility’s towering fence.
While Trout’s long shot was met with the most fanfare from spectators, fellow Angels sluggers Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger also put their MLB swings to work on the range to a similar fence-topping result. One Instagram user commented that Turner appeared to be using a 3-wood instead of a driver, making the feat even more impressive.
CBS Sports notes that both Trout and Bellinger earned MVP awards in 2019, so it’s no surprise that they’re ball-destroying ability isn’t limited to one sport.
The Angels’ 60th Major League Season kicks off at the Houston Astros home stadium on March 26.
