Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard recorded a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert from Seattle for NPR Music. The singer-songwriter paid tribute to fellow musician Adam Schlesinger who recently died from complications due to COVID-19.
Gibbard kicked off the session with a newly written song, “Life In Quarantine.” Ben is donating all proceeds from the tune to Aurora Commons, a charity providing a “welcoming space for our unhoused neighbors” in his hometown of Seattle. Gibbard then played a tune he wrote for The Monkees’ 2016 album, Good Times — which he also produced — called “Me & Magdalena.” Ben continued by honoring Adam Schlesinger, whose band Fountains of Wayne were an influence on Gibbard. Ben offers up Fountains Of Wayne’s “She’s Got a Problem” to close out the session.
