Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons joins the Jerry Garcia Band on “Waiting For A Miracle” in the latest preview of GarciaLive Volume 13: September 16th, 1989 Poplar Creek Music Theatre. The next installment of The Jerry Garcia Family’s GarciaLive series of live archival recordings featuring Jerry Garcia is due out on Friday, April 24 via Round Records.
Clarence Clemons augmented the JGB classic lineup of guitarist Jerry Garcia, bassist John Kahn, drummer David Kemper, keyboardist Melvin Seals and vocalists Jacklyn LaBranch and Gloria Jones for all of the group’s September 16, 1989 performance at Poplar Creek Music Theatre just outside of Chicago. The “Big Man” also sat-in with the Jerry Garcia Band for the four concerts that led into the Poplar Creek show featured on GarciaLive Volume 13.
“Waiting For A Miracle” came in the middle of the JGB’s second set on September 16, 1989. Bruce Cockburn wrote the song and released it as a single in 1986. The Jerry Garcia Band started covering “Waiting For A Miracle” in 1988 and performed the song over 80 times through 1994 as per Deaddisc.
