Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass Cover Grateful Dead Backstage At Borderland

119

Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass featuring The Infamous Stringdusters and Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge teamed up for a set of Grateful Dead classics at last September’s Borderland Music & Arts Festival at Fort Knox State Park in Aurora, New York. Organizers of the event shared previously unreleased video of the musicians working up a cover of “Eyes Of The World” backstage at Borderland 2019.

The ensemble’s hour-long set went down on September 22, 2019. In the newly-released video, viewers see Keller calling out the changes as the Borderland Grateful Grass lineup rehearses “Eyes Of The World.” The Grateful Dead debuted “Eyes Of The World” live on February 9, 1973. Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass featuring The Infamous Stringdusters and Oteil Burbridge performed a portion of the song the Dead played in 1973 that disappeared when the band returned from a hiatus in 1976. Additionally, the footage includes a bass solo from Burbridge.

JamBase recently launched the Gimme Shelter In Place video series featuring footage from our archives. Watch Keller’s live rendition of “High And Mighty” off his 2015 studio album Vape from the series below:
