‘On The Road: A Tribute To John Hartford’ Features The Infamous Stringdusters, Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon & More

104

Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush and The Infamous Stringdusters are among the musicians who contributed to On The Road: A Tribute To John Hartford. LoHi Records will release the collection of John Hartford covers on June 26 with all net proceeds going towards MusiCares.

John Hartford was a highly-acclaimed songwriter and musician who influenced multiple generations of artists. Hartford died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma at age 63 on June 4, 2001. On The Road honors the man “who became the vital link between traditional bluegrass and the progressive new style that would become a new genre referred to as Newgrass,” as noted in press materials announcing the album.

Fruition, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Travelin’ McCoury, Railroad Earth, Keller Williams, The Band Of Heathens, Todd Snider, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, John Carter Cash & Jamie Hartford (featuring Norman Blake & Jerry Douglas), The High Hawks, Greg Garrison and Danny Barnes round out the list of artists who recorded John Hartford originals for On The Road.

LoHi previewed the 14-track LP by sharing The Infamous Stringdusters’ “Gentle On My Mind,” Sam Bush’s “On The Road” and Leftover Salmon’s “The Category Stomp” from On The Road: A Tribute To John Hartford. Check out all three John Hartford covers below:
