The Brothers Comatose Cover Bill Withers’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’

Bay Area string band The Brothers Comatose were waiting to put out their cover of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” but decided to release it immediately upon hearing the news of Withers’ death. “Ain’t No Sunshine” will appear on Covers From Left Field, an EP due out in May.

“Bill Withers was big in our house when we were growing up. Our parents would throw music parties at our house with their musician friends and someone would play ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ every time,” the band’s Ben Morrison explained. “[Fellow Brothers Comatose member] Alex [Morrison] and I grew up on his tunes. I was incredibly sad to hear of Bill’s passing, so we figured it was the right time to put out our tribute to him.”

The Brothers Comatose previously released a cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy The Silence” off the forthcoming EP. Watch the “Ain’t No Sunshine” video, which was put together by Will Rushton and recorded by Scott McDowell at Wally’s HydeOut in San Francisco, below:
