Matador Records will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Yo La Tengo‘s 1995 studio album Electr-o-pura by reissuing the 14-track record. Electr-o-pura will be available on two LPs as part of Matador’s Revisionst History series on September 4. The announcement was accompanied with a cover of the album’s “Tom Courtenay” by Lucy Dacus.
Electr-o-pura has been cut from the original 58 minute master for the vinyl release, which marks the first time the album will be pressed on two LPs “to ensure the highest quality of audio the album has had on vinyl to date.” Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew recorded Electr-o-pura with co-producer Roger Moutenot at Nashville’s Alex the Great studios. Yo La Tengo’s seventh studio album includes 14 tracks with Kaplan and Hubley sharing lead vocal duties throughout. The LP features a number of songs which remain staples of the trio’s live shows such as “Tom Courtenay,” “Blue Line Swinger,” “Decora” and “False Alarm”
