Jock Palfreeman, 33, who served 11 years of a 20-year sentence for murder and attempted murder in the 2007 stabbing of two Bulgarians, was released on parole in September. Palfreeman said he was “completely shocked” by the systemic lawlessness in Bulgarian jails, adding that 90% of prisoners were not allowed to do any work.
