Fiona Prine Discusses John Prine’s Death & Upcoming Tribute On ‘CBS This Morning’

124

John Prine‘s widow Fiona Prine appeared on CBS This Morning to discuss her husband’s recent death from COVID-19. Fiona also spoke with Anthony Mason about Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine, which premieres tomorrow, Thursday, June 11.

Fiona talked about her own COVID-19 diagnosis and recovery as well as John Prine’s experience from when he first started showing symptoms through his lengthy stay in a Nashville hospital’s intensive care unit. Prine’s widow also detailed getting to be by his side in the ICU for the final hours of his life.

Fiona said organizing the Picture Show tribute was a “distraction.” The event, presented by Prine’s label Oh Boy Records, will feature Bonnie Raitt performing Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery,” Kacey Musgraves singing her original “(Burn One With) John Prine” and Jason Isbell covering Prine’s “Hello In There.” Other participants include Brandi Carlile, Jim James, Sturgill Simpson, Amanda Shires, Margo Price, Jeremy Ivey, Kurt Vile, Todd Snider, Dan Auerbach, Dave Cobb, Courtney Marie Andrews, Stephen Colbert, Bill Murray and more.

Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine will “feature memories and songs as well as rare and never-before-seen footage of John himself, while raising money for three organizations: NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), Alive and Make the Road New York.” The online event begins at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on Thursday, June 11 via Oh Boy Records’ YouTube, Facebook and Twitch accounts.
