Maggie Rose Covers Phish & Curtis Mayfield For ‘Past, Present, Future, Live!’ Podcast

104

Singer-songwriter Maggie Rose is featured in the latest episode of Osiris’ new Past, Present, Future, Live! podcast series. Rose discusses her musical journey and plays three songs including Phish and Curtis Mayfield covers as part of the episode.

The East Nashville based Maggie Rose spoke with host RJ Bee about her career for an interview that starts the third installment of Past, Present, Future, Live!. Rose recalled her earliest musical experience, when she captivated her family with a performance at home. She then detailed some of the influences that inspired her when she started singing and writing music.

RJ and Maggie’s conversation turned to the present and her move from Maryland to Nashville. Rose talked about the need to stand out from the pack in a crowded Nashville scene. “I think every artist who’s worth their salt should kind of feel like a fraud occasionally,” Maggie said. “We should all be trying to beat out what our last work was.”

Maggie Rose detailed the process of making her last studio album, Change The Whole Thing, and cutting her teeth on the road. Rose revealed she’s working with Marcus King on new recordings and tracked a forthcoming LP at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Maggie recently premiered a new single entitled “Help Myself.” She kicked off the performance portion of the episode with a solo take on the song before covering Phish’s “Shade” and “People Get Ready” by Curtis Mayfield.
