The Grateful Dead‘s Shakedown Stream video series continues tomorrow with a broadcast of the band’s Crimson White & Indigo concert film. Filmed on July 7, 1989 at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, Crimson White & Indigo will air after a pre-show featuring Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge on Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the JamBase Livestreams Calendar via YouTube.
Oteil Burbridge will chat with Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux and historian Gary Lambert, both of whom normally co-host the pre-show. Submit questions for Burbridge, Lemieux and Lambert using this form. The band is asking fans to donate to the ACLU this week.
Crimson White & Indigo was released in 2010. The Grateful Dead closed out JFK Stadium on an extremely hot night in Philadelphia on July 7, 1989. Highlights include the “Loser” into “Let It Grow” into “Blow Away” sequence that ended the first set and the run of “Box Of Rain” and “Scarlet Begonias” into “Fire On The Mountain” that kicked off the second set. The band — which at the time consisted of guitarists Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, keyboardist Brent Mydland, bassist Phil Lesh and drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann — also delivered a stellar “Standing On The Moon,” the song that contains the lyric featured as the title of the film.
