The Disco Biscuits Perform ‘Coke Studio Sessions’ Set

104

The Disco Biscuits performed publicly on Monday night for the first time since the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic began. The livetronica pioneers played an hour-long set for Coca Cola and BeApp’s Coke Studio Sessions series.

Guitarist Jon Gutwillig, bassist Marc Brownstein, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Allen Aucoin assembled at their Philadelphia rehearsal space for last night’s performance, where the band has been rehearsing for tonight’s Take You Out To The Ball Game livestream at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park. The Disco Biscuits opened with a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell” that included originals “Orch Theme” and “Rock Candy” within.

The band used a more stripped-down setup than on their recent tours, as they went without use of computers and focused mainly on organic tones. Last night’s “Run Like Hell” sequence ran 44 minutes, leaving the Biscuits with just 16 minutes in which they played recently debuted originals “Electric Slinky” and “Station” before ending with their rendition of Men Without Hats’ 1982 smash “Safety Dance.”

The Disco Biscuits’ Take You Out To The Ball Game livestream event starts tonight (Tuesday, June 23) at 7:45 p.m. ET/4:45 p.m. PT on the JamBase Livestreams Calendar.
