Widespread Panic went ahead and rescheduled a three-night stand at the Chicago Theatre just days after the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak led to a pause in live music. Today, the band pushed back the run once again, as Widespread Panic are now planning to play the historic venue April 1 – 3, 2021.
The concerts were originally scheduled for April 2 – 4, 2020. Panic’s first postponement had the run taking place August 20 – 22. Now, the group’s first performances at the Chicago Theatre since 2016 will take place the same weekend as first announced, but one year later. Refunds are available for ticketholders who can’t attend the new dates.
Here’s a statement from Team Widespread Panic:
To ensure the health and safety of fans, venue staff, and crew, next month’s Chicago shows have been rescheduled for April 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2021.
- All tickets purchased for the April 2nd, 2020 show (which was temporarily moved to August 20th, 2020) will be honored on the rescheduled date of Thursday, April 1st, 2021.
- All tickets purchased for the April 3rd, 2020 show (which was temporarily moved to August 21st, 2020) will be honored on the rescheduled date of Friday, April 2nd, 2021.
- All tickets purchased for the April 4th, 2020 show (which was temporarily moved to August 22nd, 2020) will be honored on the rescheduled date of Saturday, April 3rd, 2021.
All tickets purchased for the previously sold-out 2020 shows will be valid on the corresponding dates in April 2021, as noted above, and will not need to be exchanged.
Patrons not able to attend the new dates are eligible for refunds at point of purchase.

The postponement is the latest from Panic, who have cleared their 2020 schedule. Up next for the band, as currently scheduled, is a three-night run in Austin, Texas January 21 – 23, 2021.
