Molly Tuttle released a cover of the Grateful Dead‘s “Standing On The Moon” featuring Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith. The cover is one of 10 that appears on Tuttle’s forthcoming …But I’d Rather Be With You album, which is set for release via Compass Records on August 28.
Tuttle previously released a cover of The National’s “Fake Empire.” …But I’d Rather Be With You also includes songs originally released by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cat Stevevns, Rancid, Arthur Russell, Harry Styles and more. Molly was inspired to create the album following feelings of isolation due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and a tornado that hit her current hometown of Nashville.
“Standing On The Moon” was originally released by the Grateful Dead on their final studio album, 1989’s Built To Last. Jerry Garcia wrote the tune with Robert Hunter. Watch the video for Molly’s version of “Standing On The Moon” featuring Taylor Goldsmith below:
