Melbourne indie-rockers Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have covered Hole‘s 1998 hit ‘Malibu’. Their stripped-back, primarily acoustic take on the Celebrity Skin favourite was recorded as part of the SiriusXMU sessions.

The series sees bands reinterpret other artists’ songs for the radio station – fellow Aussies Middle Kids gave their spin on Car Seat Headrest’s ‘Fill in the Blank’ back in 2017. Last week, Phoebe Bridgers shared a studio recording of her rendition of John Prine‘s ‘Summer’s End’ for the series. You can check that out here.

Rolling Blackouts released their second album Sideways to New Italy last month, following up their 2018 debut Hope Downs. Anchored around singles like ‘Cars in Space’ and ‘She’s There’, the album saw the quintet examine the notion of place and their own personal geographies after a long period spent on the road touring behind album one.

“I felt completely rudderless on tour,” explained the band’s Fran Keaney. “It’s fun but you get to a point where you’re like, Who am I anymore? You feel like you’re everywhere and nowhere at the same time. And no one in particular.”
