Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, John Medeski & Jack DeJohnette and others covered Bob Dylan‘s album Highway 61 Revisited as part of a livestream held yesterday on the 55th anniversary of the record’s release. The livestream was the first of the Bardavon Presents Albums Revisited series of complete album covers. The historic Bardavon Theater in Poughkeepsie, New York is home to the Hudson Valley Philharmonic orchestra.

Bardavon executive director Chris Silva hosted the livestream that began with John Medeski and Jack DeJohnette performing an instrumental arrangement of “Like a Rolling Stone.” The Weight Band covered “Tombstone Blues” followed by The Darwin Effect featuring Jimmy Vivino, Rich Pagano and John Sebastian taking on “It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry.” Guy Davis played “From A Buick 6” and Steve Earle was given “Ballad of a Thin Man.”

The livestream then presented a performance of “Queen Jane Approximately” by Lucinda Williams. The B-52’s vocalist Kate Pierson performed the title track “Highway 61 Revisited” while backed by The Restless Age. The trio of Happy Traum with Larry Campbell and Cindy Cashdollar covered “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues.” The closing track, “Desolation Row,” was covered by Mike + Ruthy of The Mammals. A bonus performance of the Highway 61 Revisited outtake “Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window” by Laura Stevenson brought the livestream to an end.
