The Rolling Stones, The Killers, Jacques Lu Cont Collab On “Scarlet” [Listen]

The Rolling Stones released a new version of “Scarlet” on Friday, featuring a collaboration with The Killers and Jaques Lu Cont.

Back in July, The Stones unearthed a near-ancient recording of the yet unreleased “Scarlet”, which featured Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and Blind Faith‘s Ric Grech on bass and would see inclusion on the band’s forthcoming reissue of 1973’s Goat’s Head Soup. Less than a month later, The Stones shared a remix of “Scarlet” by The War On Drugs, which arrived as a more poppy, energetic sounding rendition of the swamp-rock track.

The latest “Scarlet” reimagination by The Killers and Jaques Lu Cont provides a new twist on the song and takes it to new sonic heights. Instead of the familiar guitar riff that opens the track on both the original and The War On Drugs remix, this latest version opens more dramatically with a synth that takes a half-minute to build into the song’s chorus. Clocking-in at a brisk 3:14, the track is also shorter than the others, but matches the upbeat energy of The War On Drugs’ remix.
