Cabinet & Keller Williams Honor Toots Hibbert In Butler

78

Cabinet and Keller Williams co-headlined a socially distanced outdoor concert at the Starlight Drive-In in Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday night. The evening ended with a collaborative encore featuring a pair of Toots & The Maytals’ covers in honor of reggae legend Toots Hibbert, who died earlier this month at age 77.

Williams played a solo set to get Sunday’s concert underway. Keller mixed such originals as “Baby Mama,” “Making It Rain” and “Super Hot Girl” with a cover of The Presidents Of The United States Of America’s “Peaches” and a medley of the Grateful Dead’s “They Love Each Other” and “Cumberland Blues.” The one-man band closed out his performance with the beloved “Freeker By The Speaker.”

Cabinet closed out the evening in their home state of Pennsylvania. The eight-piece kicked off their set with “The Tower” and then presented a run of “Celebration,” “Susquehanna Breakdown” and “Wheels.” An extended “The Dove” led into “Mysterio” before Cabinet dug in on “Miss Molly” and “Treesap.” A pairing of “Heavy Rain” and “Cool River” ended Cabinet’s set.

Both Keller Williams and Cabinet emerged for the concert’s encore. Keller led the collective through Toots’ “Pressure Drop” before Cabinet’s Pappy Biondo handled lead vocals on Hibbert’s “54-46 Was My Number.” Toots & The Maytals originally released “Pressure Drop” on 1970’s Monkey Man and the song was famously included on the 1972 soundtrack for The Harder They Come. “54-46 Was My Number” was first issued as a single by Toots & The Maytals in 1969.
