Drummer Garrett Morris Announces Departure From The Higgs

91

On Monday, drummer Garrett Morris announced that he will leave The Higgs to pursue other opportunities. The announcement was later confirmed by the band on its official page, as well as in a press release.

Morris served as drummer for the Los Angeles-based jam band for six years, according to a statement from The Higgs. While the departure may appear sudden and abrupt, neither parties claimed any animosity and both wished each other well.

In his official statement, Morris expressed that he has already started to perform with other musicians and other projects. While expressing extreme gratitude to friends, family, audience, and bandmates, Morris didn’t entirely close the door behind him. In addressing current and former Higgs members David Barsky, Jesse Jennings, John Lovero, Warren Murrel, Marco Munoz, and Spencer Hurley, Morris noted that “And, possibly, we might play together in other situations down the line.”

Garrett Morris’ final concert as a member of The Higgs will take place at a private concert for longtime friend Tim Linehan on October 3rd. Scroll down to read the full statement from Morris.

In hopes to avoid any confusion or false impressions, I have officially left The Higgs and am starting to perform with other musicians and other projects. I’d like to share the following:

To all my friends, family and audience,

My time with The Higgs has been one of the most amazing and exhilarating time periods of my life. But the time has come for new projects and to pursue new ventures.

I have toured the country, played festivals in front of thousands and have had the chance to share the stage with my former bandmates as well as many others. Most importantly, I have made so many lifelong friends across this country.

Thank you to all my friends, audience and family for your love and support throughout these past several years. I look forward to playing music for you and I’ll see you all again soon!

To my Higgs brothers both past and present — David Barsky, Jesse Jennings, John Lovero, Warren Murrel, Marco Munoz and Spencer Hurley – I wish you love and awesome lives. I’ll value our friendships forever. I wish you all the best and thank you for being a part of some very profound and deeply impactful experiences. And, possibly, we might play together in other situations down the line.

I am excited about this next phase and I look forward to playing with other musicians and starting new ventures. There are so many songs, both written and not yet written, and ultimately so much music to play!

My last concert as a member of The Higgs will be a private show for longtime friend Tim Linehan on Saturday, October 3rd.
