Gorillaz announced the release of a new compilation, Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez, out on October 23. The innovative collection features contributions from Elton John,Beck, The Cure‘s Robert Smith and more.
The legendary virtual band — consisting of Noodle, 2D, Murdoc and Russel — recently shared the title track to “Strange Timez,” featuring Robert Smith. The track follows previously released Song Machine collaborative singles for “Pac Man,” “Desole,” “How Far,” “Momentary Bliss” and more. Additionally, the compilation comes with a full-color 210-page almanac, the Gorillaz first annual.
Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn also has a live performance dubbed Song Machine Live planned for December 13 and 14. The livestream event will feature “a unique blend of visuals and live Gorillaz performance with songs from Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez performed live for the first time globally via livestream on LiveNow in three time zones,” as per a statement.
