Nathaniel Rateliff has announced a run of five socially distanced shows at Morrison, CO’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre with support from Kevin Morby on September 15th, 16th, 18th, 19th, and 21st. The shows will mark Rateliff’s first performances with an audience since early March, when his nine-month And It’s Still Alright tour was canned after just nine days as the coronavirus began to wreak havoc on the live events industry.

Each of the five performances will be limited to a capacity of 175 attendees (the full capacity is more than 9,000). Tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 9 at 10AM MST on AXS ticketing. There will be a lottery system as well as a small allotment of higher priced tickets for guaranteed entry. The show will be general admission. For more ticketing information, head here.

According to a press release, the shows “will feature various aspects of Rateliff’s stellar musicianship, ranging from stripped-back moments with just his voice and acoustic guitar to a full 10-piece folk band accompaniment, which includes a string quartet.”

The Marigold Project is Rateliff’s foundation dedicated to economic, racial and social justiceAll funds raised through the Red Rocks shows will be distributed to organizations working in Colorado to propel their mission forward.

“We want to get out there and play,” Rateliff explained in a statement along with the announcement. “We feel so fortunate that Red Rocks is our hometown venue and look forward to having people at normal capacities in the future. But until that time it will feel great to make the best of the current situation, we want to get back to that live energy. These shows will be special for us, and hopefully the fans, as we will have our full production, custom light show and projections that were featured on the original tour that was unfortunately cancelled.”

Nathaniel Rateliff recently returned to the Red Rocks stage sans audience for Red Rocks Unpaused, a series of interactive livestreams in early September.

Last week, Denver Arts & Venues, the city and county agency responsible for operating Red Rocks and various other Denver-area venues, announced that it would close indefinitely beginning in October.

“It’s hoped that by pausing things now, at a time when we know our venues won’t be open, Arts & Venues can be in a financial position to reopen quickly once live entertainment returns,” Denver Arts & Venues spokesperson Brian Kitts said in a statement. “This is a tough time for our community and our own staff, and we’re hoping to be back in operation as soon as the arts and cultural industries are allowed.”
