PREMIERE: The Terrifying Lows Returns With Brooding New Single ‘Everywhere You Go (There You Are)’

9

On new single ‘Everywhere You Go’, Melbourne songwriter Tyler Millot – aka The Terrifying Lows – crafts dark, brooding alt-rock that sits somewhere between later-period Arctic Monkeys and Queens of the Stone Age. The track, which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially arrives on Friday – sees Millot’s vocals take centre stage above a spacious backdrop of driving rhythms and searing guitars, as the songwriter explores the idea of being haunted by your own consciousness.

“I wrote ‘Everywhere You Go (There You Are)’ whilst taking a few months away from the city last year. I needed a decent break from the constant grind of city life to reset and clear my head,” explains Millot, who you may recognise as a session/touring musician for the likes of Ali Barter, Husky and Ben Wright Smith.

“When I got there I came to the conclusion that I was suffering a little from what they call “Destination Happiness Syndrome”, which is the mindset that happiness will only be obtained when we reach the next step. The lyrics were inspired by that epiphany mixed with the feeling of not being able to escape myself.”

Millot recorded ‘Everywhere You Go (There You Are)’ at Aviary Studios in Melbourne with producer Josh Barber (Gretta Ray) and engineer Stephen Mowatt (Ali Barter). It was sent off to Nashville for mixing by Kyle Dreaden before finally being mastered by Joe Carra (King Gizz, Pond, etc).
