Remember When: The Disco Biscuits Played Wilmer’s Park On This Day In 1998 [Full Audio/Video]

96

On this day back in 1998, The Disco Biscuits, still an up and coming act at the time, were putting their stamp on the jam scene. With their “trancefusion” stylings still in its infant stage, the band came out of the gates at their Wilmer’s Park set in Brandywine, MD with a monster “Helicopters > Magellan > Helicopters” segment that lasted well over the 50-minute mark. It featured some of that early, unabashed, balls-to-the-wall jamming that turned a lot of heads in the direction of the Biscuits, turning many into Bisco addicts.

“Once The Fiddler Paid”, on the other hand, featured the classical composition themes that are also witnessed in the band’s catalog, with a pony-tailed, Hawaiian-shirt wearing Aron Magner playing some beautiful organ layerings for Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig to solo over, with Marc Brownstein bobbing that bass head, and “The Dr.” Sammy Altman behind the kit. “Little Shimmy” ended the one-set only performance properly.
