Something For Kate Announce First Album In Eight Years ‘The Modern Medieval’

Australian rock royalty Something for Kate have announced their first album in eight years with The Modern Medieval, set to arrive in November.

Following on from 2012’s Leave Your Soul to Science, the album was recorded in Byron Bay with Nick DiDia (Powderfinger, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen) and mixed by Canadian producer Howie Beck.

To coincide with the announcement, the trio have shared latest single ‘Supercomputer’. It’s a haunting slow-burner anchored by driving guitars and Dempsey’s vocals front and centre.

“Its about the hidden rooms inside your brain where things sit in the dark gathering dust,” explains Dempsey. “Until you fall asleep and dream and it’s like someone stormed into one of those rooms and turned all the lights.”

‘Supercomputer’ is the third single to be shared ahead of The Modern Medieval‘s release, following ‘Waste Our Breath’ back in July and ‘Situation Room’ in April.

“We make Something for Kate records because we love making them,” Dempsey commented in a statement. “Every song we work on is a concentrated effort. It has to be right. For me, that means not a word out of place and not a note out of place. That takes a lot of time, but no-one lets anything slide in this band.”
