Umphrey’s McGee shared official video featuring their performance of “Hurt Bird Bath” from the band’s first of two recent At The Drive Inn outdoor concerts. The shows took place at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois near Chicago Last Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.
“Hurt Bird Bath” came within the second set of UM’s At The Drive Inn opener. The video starts with the sound of horns being honked by cars on hand at the venue. “Never in my life has the sound of this many cars honking sounded so beautiful,” noted Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss before the sextet used a brief jam on Gary Numan’s 1979 hit “Cars” as an intro for “Hurt Bird Bath.”
Saturday’s “HBB” spanned nearly 15 minutes and featured a pair of expansive jams. Drummer Kris Myers powered the first improvisation with a strong back beat. Umphrey’s then fit a more spacey interlude into the classic song before bringing “Hurt Bird Bath” to its conclusion.
