Warren Haynes Covers John Lennon, Tom Petty & More With Danny Louis At South Farms

122

Warren Haynes was joined by his Gov’t Mule band mate Danny Louis for their second of five socially distanced outdoor concerts at South Farms in Morris, Connecticut on Sunday night. Haynes dug into his repertoire for songs from his solo and Gov’t Mule catalogs as well as a bevy of covers, including tunes by John Lennon, Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers Band and more.

The show began the same way as Saturday’s concert with Haynes delivering the second ever rendition of new original “Don’t Know Where We’re Going (But We’ll Get There).” Warren stuck with solo material including “Glory Road” and “Love’s Open Door” before he was augmented by Louis on covers of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero” and Tampa Red’s “It Hurts Me Too” as well as Mule gems “Traveling Tune” and “Forsaken Savior” to close the frame.

Warren presented a short but powerful take on Tom Petty’s “Southern Accents” to kick off the second set. Then, Louis returned for a take on “Melissa” by The Allman Brothers Band and stuck around for the rest of the night. Haynes and Louis treated fans to Mule classics “Child Of The Earth” and “Beautifully Broken” with Dennis Robbins’ “Two Of A Kind, Workin’ On A Full House” coming in between. From there, Danny played guitar on “Captured” before returning to keys for a triumphant “Turn On Your Love Light.” The duo ended the night with a “Fallen Down” encore.

Hayes and Louis return to South Farms on October 1.
