Watch Primus’ Les Claypool Give Jason Momoa A Bass Lesson

It turns out Primus frontman Les Claypool isn’t just an incredible bassist – he’s also a skilled instructor. And when Jason Momoa spent a week visiting Claypool’s winery in Sebastopol, California recently, the funk metal legend showed the Aquaman star how to play the band’s 1993 Pork Soda favourite ‘My Name Is Mud’.

“You got this shit in slow-mo? Shoot this shit slow-mo,” Momoa tells a cameraman filming the lesson after Claypool rips through the song’s rapid-fire bass line. “I need this in my life.”

The duo then proceed to jam out together, with Momoa on bass and Claypool behind the drum kit. Other images in the incredibly wholesome post capture the actor and musician hanging out on a boat, playing pinball and posing with bass guitars.

“[Momoa] came out to visit and we had ourselves a grand ol’ time,” wrote Claypool on the band’s official Instagram account.

“I AM MADLY IN LOVE WITH THIS OHANA,” Momoa captioned an image of him with Claypool on his own account.

“mahalo nui loa for taking us in and sharing your home. truly been the most amazing week so many beautiful things to come creating some amazing works of art with friends can’t wait to share our stories.”
