Audiences got their first look at the new Dune film, adapted for the screen from Frank Herbert‘s 1965 novel of the same name. The trailer for the movie many considered unfilmable due to its incredibly vast scope also features a reimagining of the Pink Floyd classic “Eclipse” by composer Hans Zimmer.

Dune is set to be released on December 18th only in theaters, which is hopefully possible by then. This film adaptation comes 26 years after director David Lynch made his own attempt at the novel to widespread financial and critical failure.

In the sleek new trailer for Dune, we find rising star Timothée Chalamet in the starring role of Paul Atreides. The trailer is full of familiar characters as well as the actors who portray them, including Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), Chani (Zendaya), Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa), and many more. However one of the biggest stars of the trailer isn’t shown onscreen, but is rather heard.

Dune is scored by film composer phenom Hans Zimmer, who has provided music for over 150 films including GladiatorInceptionInterstellar, and plenty of other blockbusters. In the trailer for Dune, however, we hear a reimagining of the Dark Side of the Moon closer “Eclipse”. What’s interesting to note, is that the pioneering British psychedelic group was originally approached to provide the soundtrack to the ultimately-abandoned 1974 adaption of Dune from Alejandro Jodorowsky.

For a movie and novel famous of the denseness of its story and rich worldmaking, the take on “Eclipse” is deserted and scarce. While the arrangement of the song is standard fanfare for most movie trailers, the take does little to hold true to the scope that made Dark Side of the Moon one of the best-selling albums of all time. The music for the trailer itself, up until the eerie vocals come in for “and all that you see”, is classic Zimmer and will no doubt underscore an adventurous and admirable undertaking such as Dune. But Zimmer’s classic rock fantasies are best left to his record collection.
