The culmination of four weeks of the Escape From The Living Room series from BIG Something came on Thursday night with the premiere of the band’s new studio record, Escape. To welcome the band’s sixth studio album in grand fashion, BIG Something debuted a video album to introduce the new music.

BIG Something’s free livestream series, Escape From The Living Room, returned for its second phase on September 12th, and saw the North Carolina jam band go live from its Ovation Sound studio in Salem. Since announcing the new album back in January, the band also released singles “Dangerous“, “Timebomb“, “Heavy“, and “The Breakers“.

Throughout the 52:15 minute album, fans are greeted with the familiar imagery found on the Escape videos previewed thus far cut with performance footage from the livestreams. Spliced together as a cohesive whole, this new album from BIG Something—the band’s first since 2018’s The Otherside—presents a slightly altered course for the band. Though many of the same familiar themes and musical models are still there, Escape presents somewhat of a departure from the group that has become a mainstay of music festivals throughout the country.

Drummer Ben Vinograd said of the band’s new album, “We made a conscious choice with this album to get back to our roots musically. We wanted something that hit really hard but was danceable and upbeat. I think it’s a great portrait of where we came from and what we’ve grown into musically over the last 10 years.”
