Concert streaming platform FANS will broadcast an all-day livestream event of archive footage and more in honor of Bob Weir‘s 73rd birthday this Friday, October 16th).
The virtual celebration will revisit a number of Weir’s performances from recent years with live footage pulled from the Grateful Dead‘s 2015 Fare Thee Well shows in addition to his gigs with Dead & Company, RatDog, Bob Weir and Wolf Bros, Phil Lesh & Friends, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, and more. In addition to archive performance footage, the all-day broadcast will include virtual birthday wishes from Weir’s friends and colleagues along with various musical selections in some capacity.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. ET and will also air on Facebook, YouTube, Littlestar, Twitch, and Daily Motion.
The event will be free to watch, but fans are encouraged to donate what money they can to benefit the National Independent Talent Organization (NITO) which provides aid to independent artists, managers, talent agents, event staff, and the entire independent live music ecosystem. NITO is lobbying for the approval of the much-needed RESTART Act, and NIVA‘s “Save Our Stages” initiative.
