Jazz For America Virtual Benefit Concert To Feature John Scofield, Ravi Coltrane, More

Acclaimed jazz musicians ranging from John Scofield to Jazzmeia Horn will take part in the Jazz For America virtual fundraising event at City Winery Hudson Valley in Montgomery, NY later this week on Thursday, October 15th.

The one-night political fundraising event will look to raise money for 2020 Democratic presidential candidates and will be hosted by Grammy and Tony Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater. The virtual benefit show will also feature outdoor performances from notable jazz musicians including bassist Christian McBride, saxophonist Joe Lovano, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, pianist Fred Hersch, harpist Brandee Younger, saxophonist Miguel Zenon, bassist John Patitucci, drummer Eric Harland, trumpeter Sean Jones, pianist Aaron Goldberg, and saxophonist Melissa Aldana.

A statement shared with the announcement reads,

These historic occasions provide an opportunity for the jazz community to unite in promotion of our values and to encourage political engagement more generally. In addition to raising significant funds for the Democratic Party presidential nominee, they bring masters of the art form together across generations to create improvised music of the highest caliber.

Tickets for the virtual event begin at $50 and are available for purchase here. Details for joining the event online will be sent to all confirmed participants 24-48 hours prior to the event.
