The ever-prolific King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard confirmed the upcoming release not only of a new studio album entitled K.G. but also of a live album called Live In San Francisco ’16. The band previewed both LPs, which are due on November 20 via ATO Records, by sharing singles.
K.G. marks the 16th King Giz studio album. The band recorded the 10-track LP remotely while self-quarantining during the pandemic. The record finds the group once again using a microtonal musical scale as they did on 2017’s Flying Microtonal Banana. K.G. includes a song the group unveiled yesterday, “Automation,” as well as previously released 2020 singles “Straws In The Wind,” “Some Of Us” and “Honey.”
Live In San Francisco ’16 was recorded at 500-capacity The Independent in San Francisco during a tour in support of Nonagon Infinity. The 13-song collection “captures an extraordinary moment in the band’s increasingly storied history,” as per press materials. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard previewed the live album with the release of “Evil Death Roll” from the set.
