Leftover Salmon Presents Fall Maskerade 2020 In Colorado

100

Leftover Salmon returned to the stage this past weekend for “Fall Maskerade 2020,” which marked the band’s first performances since the pandemic began. The concerts were held on THE LAWN outside of Surf Hotel in Buena Vista, Colorado.

“Buena Vista’s Surf Hotel was the perfect setting for a much needed socially distanced mini festival,” co-founding member Vince Herman said of the experience. “The weather was Coloradoish. Sunny and warm and dumping snow too! It was a great collection of friends, kids, and dogs having music for the soul. Such fun! Now it’s time to crawl back into the Covid bubble and stay safe. See ya next year!”

The action started on Friday night with the debut of “Best Day Ever,” one of eight songs premiered by Leftover Salmon over the course of the three-night stand. Other debuts played during the weekend included Grateful Dead repertoire favorites “Morning Dew” and “Black Peter.” Additionally, LoS honored Jerry Jeff Walker with a cover of “Mr. Bojangles.” On Sunday, a snowstorm passing through the area couldn’t derail Leftover Salmon from putting an exclamation mark on the weekend.

The band was joined by a number of guests during Fall Maskerade 2020. Wally Ingram was onstage providing percussion for all three shows. On Friday, Tyler Grant added to a cover of the Dead’s “Mr. Charlie.” Then, fiddler Coleman Smith was on hand for “Bird Call” and “Derby Day” during the first set on Saturday. The second show also featured a crowd Maskerade in “Show Me Something Higher.” Smith returned to the stage for the entire second set on Sunday.
