As reported, Neil Young will issue the long-awaited Archives Volume II: 1972 – 1976 via Warner/Reprise on November 20. Young previewed the massive 10-CD, 131-track box set by sharing “Come Along And Say You Will,” one of 12 songs previously unreleased in any form featured on Archives Volume II: 1972 – 1976.
“Come Along And Say You Will” comes from the set’s first disc, Everybody’s Alone, which was recorded during the period between Harvest and Time Fades Away. Young was backed by drummer Kenny Buttrey, bassist Tim Drummond and pedal steel guitarist Ben Keith on the song as per Rolling Stone.
Neil Young debuted “Come Along And Say You Will” live with The Stray Gators at Milwaukee Auditorium in Milwaukee on January 5, 1973 according to Sugar Mountain. Seven additional in-concert versions followed in January 1973 before the song disappeared from Young’s repertoire.
