Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Deliver Full-Production Performance For Democracy Comes Alive [Watch]

On October 3rd, Baltimore-bred bird band Pigeons Playing Ping Pong took part in Democracy Comes Alive, a one-day, nonpartisan virtual music festival aimed at channeling the power of music to make a critical impact on civic engagement in this November’s elections and beyond.

The four-piece jam act united in the flesh at Showtime Sound in Frederick, MD with full stage production for the performance, where they took flight with guitarist Jeremy Schon‘s echo-laden opening notes to “Porcupine”. The energetic run through the Pizazz track was engaging as always for the festival favorites, who guided the tune through its rhythmic breakdown en route to an explosive peak.

With about four minutes to go in the band’s 15-minute performance, and after properly tuning up, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong loaded up the feel-good romp “Feelin’ Fine”. Originally debut during the band’s virtual Homefest celebration back in June, the recent composition didn’t offer much in the way of jams, but was a quick-hit tune that displayed plenty of the upbeat lyricism that makes Pigeons such an enjoyable band to watch. As the clock wound down on the band’s set, Schon was able to fit in one fiery solo before it was time to fly.
