Turkuaz Shares Studio Footage From ‘Digitonium’ Tracking [Watch]

Brooklyn funk nonet Turkuaz gave fans an inside look on Thursday with a video featuring archival footage of the recording of “Digitonium” from the 2015 album of the same name. The clip comes in celebration of Digitonium‘s fifth anniversary.

In accordance with the album’s anniversary, Turkuaz is re-releasing the record on vinyl. In addition to the standard black LP, fans also have the choice of a special electric blue colored vinyl, both expected to ship in mid-December.

The video shows a much more casual Turkuaz than audiences were used to seeing. At this point in 2015, the band was still fully committed to its rainbow persona, which it shed last year in favor of an Earth tone mystique. At any rate, the band members are in their comfy clothes and spirits are high as they go about cleaning foot pedals and other studio minutia before dropping into the album’s title track. Even though this studio footage offers nothing new in the way of composition compared to the song found on the record, it’s always fascinating to see how the sausage gets made.

In a candid moment following the song’s completion, Sammi Garett tells the camera, “I wish this could happen all the time, even at Galaxy Smith, I wish we could be like ‘we’ll just f*cking take a month, record this album, and then do shows.’ Like I don’t want to go back to work. I just wanna do this. ‘Cause this is what I wanna do, and it’s fun.”
