Eddie Vedder has officially released a pair of new singles, “Matter of Time” and “Stay Hi”, which he debuted during a virtual charity event on Wednesday night.

The event, Venture Into Cures, was a benefit for the EB Research Partnership, the nonprofit Vedder and his wife, Jill Vedder, co-founded to help find a cure for epidermolysis bullosa, a genetic skin disorder. Per Rolling Stone, “Kids with EB are born with fragile skin and are subject to severe pain, external and internal wounds, and must undergo a rigorous bandaging process every day.”

Both of the new songs premiered by the Pearl Jam frontman during the event fall in line with the benefit’s mission. “Say Hi”, an acoustic guitar-focused song that’s been a part of Vedder’s live rotation for several years, was initially written for a young boy named Eli Meyer suffering from junctional epidermolysis bullosa. Today’s single drop marks the first time the song has been officially released.

“Matter of Time” trades the guitar for an emotional piano accompaniment as its driving force. On this one, Vedder more directly references the disease (“Still times when nothing’s alright / As we bandage up all our parts”) as it builds to a hopeful climax: “You got the cure, I’ll fight the fight
It’s just a matter of time.” The song was shared on Thursday along with a water color-style animated video in which kids with EB finally are able to remove their bandages and run off an play.
