Multi-hyphenate Carrie Brownstein is reportedly in the process of writing a Heart biopic which she will also direct. According to Rolling Stone, the Sleater-Kinney musician and Portlandia star is working with Heart singer Ann Wilson on the yet-untitled project.

In an interview with SiriusXM‘s Volume West, Wilson revealed, “I can’t tell you all about it, because it’s still being written right now… I saw the first draft of [Brownstein’s] script, it’s really cool,” she said. “The script started in childhood and ended up in the Nineties.”

The pandemic has allegedly slowed production in the film, but Wilson maintains that the project is still a go. As far as casting goes, Brownstein reportedly hasn’t settled on anyone yet to play the leading ladies of rock Ann and Nancy Wilson.

“A few actresses have come forward, but no one that’s right,” Ann said. “Anne Hathaway came forward [to play Ann], but I don’t think she’s exactly right for it.”

Set for release by Amazon Prime, this would mark Brownstein’s directorial debut for a major motion picture. The musician/actress has previously directed episodes of PortlandiaSearch PartyA.P. Bio, and more, as well as co-wrote The Nowhere Inn with St. Vincent back in January, in which Brownstein also starred. Lynda Obst, who has produced Sleepless in SeattleContactInterstellar, and more, has also signed on for the project.
