Holly Bowling & Raina Mullen Cover Bonnie Raitt

Ghost Light bandmates Holly Bowling and Raina Mullen shared a video of their covers of a pair of Bonnie Raitt classics. Inspired by Bon Iver, Bowling and Mullen performed a medley of Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and “Nick Of Time.”

Bowling played piano while accompanied by Mullen’s vocals during the session recorded at their Ghost Light cohort Tom Hamilton’s The Ballroom studio in Philadelphia. Hamilton also mixed and edited the video which he filmed with Jeffery Bowling.

Bon Iver recorded a similar arrangement of the two songs that was released in 2011 as a B-side to the Bon Iver, Bon Iver single, “Calgary.” Raitt originally recorded “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” which was co-written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin, on her 1991 album Luck Of The Draw. “Nick Of Time” was written by Raitt and served as the title track to her 1989 album
