Mountain Man Covers ‘Greensleeves’

Mountain Man unveiled Mountain Man Sings Greensleeves, the latest in a series of covers released via Nonesuch in 2020. The trio — which consists of Amelia Meath (of Sylvan Esso), Molly Sarlé and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig (Daughter Of Swords) — went completely a capella for their rendition of the traditional English folk song.

“‘Greensleeves’ is one of our favorite winter songs,” said Mountain Man in a statement. “It occupies a strange melodic balance point between crystalline winter whimsy and the kind of grim determination required to embark into the emotional wilds of the holiday season.”

Mountain Man Sings Greensleeves follows the trio’s covers of Neil Young’s “Through My Sails,” the 1848 Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts,”Kacey Musgraves’ “Slow Burn,” Wilco’s “You And I,” “White Christmas” and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Around & Around.”
