Phoebe Bridgers teamed up with Maggie Rogers to record and release a cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 smash “Iris.” On Election Day, Bridgers tweeted a promise to cover the song if Donald Trump lost the presidential election.
“Iris” was released exclusively via Bandcamp. Phoebe and Maggie provide vocals and are backed on the track by violinist Odessa Jorgensen, guitarist Harrison Whitford and mandolinist Joseph Lorge.
Goo Goo Dolls originally recorded “Iris” for inclusion on the soundtrack for 1998’s City Of Angels and went on to release the song later that year on their Dizzy Up The Girl album. The band’s frontman, John Rzeznik, wrote “Iris.”
Proceeds from Phoebe & Maggie’s “Iris” cover will benefit Fair Fight. Stacey Abrams started the organization to promote fair elections in her home state of Georgia and across the country.
